February 1, 1938 - December 6, 2011

Eldon Shepherd, 73 year-old, longtime Seminole County resident passed from this life at his home
on Tuesday, December 6, 2011. He was born February 1, 1938 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents
Stanley Shepherd and Sylvia M. (Hoover) Shepherd.

Eldon went on to graduate from Varnum High School in 1957. He was a proud Varnum Alumni
who loved attending the yearly banquets.

Eldon married Rose Clark on July 12, 1958 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Eldon worked for General Motors “G.M.” for 30 years. He worked 16 years in the
Arlington, Texas plant then worked in the Oklahoma plant for 14 years. At the same time he owned
and operated his own auto repair garage.

Eldon was very devoted to his family, he was a man of few words but he was a deep thinker.

They all knew his favorite color was chrome. His love for his family was strong
and he was a man who had faith in God, he was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Shawnee.

Eldon is survived by his wife of 53 years Rose (Clark) Shepherd of the home; one son,
Justin Lubbe of Seminole, Oklahoma; one son-in-law, Tommy Darr of Seminole; four daughters and
sons-in-law, Barbara and Gary Phillips of Walnut Springs, Texas, Janet and Keith Grissom of Seminole,
Oklahoma, Tamara Shepherd of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Kelly Brauer of Rogers, Arkansas; two brothers
and a sister-in-law, Maurice Shepherd of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Walter and his wife Nina Shepherd of
Seminole, Oklahoma; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Shepherd of Bethel Acres, Oklahoma and
Barbara Lou Shepherd of Maysville, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren, Angela Throne, Daniel Phillips,
Rebekah Phillips all of Texas, Jon Darr of Seminole, Oklahoma, Chris Darr of Prague, Oklahoma,
Amber McFerran, Jared Grissom, Clint Grissom all of Seminole, Oklahoma and Garrett Armstrong of
Shawnee, Oklahoma; 5 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jaxon, Owen, Grady and Barrett; Eldon is also
survived by a host of other family and dear friends.

Eldon is preceded in death by his parents, Silvia and Stanley Shepherd; one daughter,
Diane Darr (May 25, 2010), three brothers, Fred Shepherd, Lloyd Shepherd and Frank Shepherd.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2011 at Fairview Baptist Church
located at 48502 Highway 3 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery.
Richard Stillwell, Jason Wilson and Wayne Knight will officiate the service.

Family will receive friends at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel Thursday evening, December 8, 2011
from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Casket Bearers will be: Daniel Phillips, Andy Throne, Chris Darr, Jon Darr, Jared Grissom,
Keith McFerran and Clint Grissom.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
